… The hottest tennis in Miami has a cool new name
MIAMI (August 29, 2006) – The name has changed, but the great tennis you
expect to see at Crandon Park will not change, and you can reserve your
seats now by purchasing your ticket package for the 2007 Sony Ericsson
Open.
The first Sony Ericsson Open is set to be played March 21 – April 1 with
the top 96 men and women in the world lining up to dethrone 2006
champions Roger Federer and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
In 2006, Federer joined Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi as the only male
back-to-back winners in Miami’s 22-year history, defeating Ivan Ljubicic
in three close sets, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6), in the final. A third
title would bring Federer equal with Agassi, the only male to win three
straight (2001-03). On the women’s side, Kuznetsova won her second big
American event, adding the 2006 title to her 2004 US Open crown with a
straight set victory over Maria Sharapova, 6-4, 6-3.
As the US Open begins, ticket packages are now available (on sale August
29) and can only be purchased by calling the Sony Ericsson Open ticket
office at 305-442-3367. For more information, log on to the tournament’s
official website at www.sonyericssonopen.com. Single-session tickets go
on sale January 2, 2007.
While the 2006 event welcomed upgraded chair-back seats in the 400
level, an addition of three fashion shows during the second week, an
exhibition by a celebrity chef and a champagne lesson and tasting, the
2007 Sony Ericsson Open will strive to take these elements to a new,
glamorous level. The site promises to reflect on the company’s dynamic
image featuring a new front entrance experience and off-court activities
that truly define a complete entertainment destination, while still
featuring the best tennis in the world.
The best value in tennis is still the CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES package, which
features a chair-back seat in the 300-level for all 22 session for $615.
Championship Series package holders also gain the right to purchase
access to premium parking and the exclusive on-site restaurant.
Tickets for the Opening Weekend (March 23-25) and the Finals Weekend
(March 29- April 1) are available via “Flex-4” ticket package plans,
choose the four sessions that best fit your schedule. With “Flex-4”
nights, choose any four evening sessions (3/21-3/28) for only $58, a
